​We are very pleased to say that the work at the orchard is now mostly completed and is officially up and running following the official opening event!

Whilst there will always be more to do and maintain, we believe that we have established a framework which will support growing fruit and vegetables and make them FREELY available to all local families. The fruit trees will continue to mature into the future and hopefully reduce the need for replacement.

 

Following the Official Opening...

We thank Councillor Jack Hemingway for performing this task and for his opening speech.

We also thank Roger Parkinson from Tree Wardens Wakefield for his illuminating speech on how we are tackling climate change issues locally. Over 50 people attended the event and the children had a fun time completing a Nature Bingo Card, dancing among the trees with bells and streamers, seeing how trees breathe and picnicking on the grass.

Last but by no means least we especially want to thank our local Mural Artist, Lyndsey Tomlinson for her magnificent achievement depicting the history of the site and colourful mural on the original bridge wall. It truly is an asset to the Orchard and to the village, many, many thanks Lyndsey.

All Fruit and Veg is available to pick and take home if it is ready to be eaten and anyone who would like to get involved with the orchard and growing up there will be more than welcome, just send us a message.
